America's Next Top Model Vent

I am so sick and tired of all of the " typical ghetto" black girl "approaching" the white racist On ANTM. They are the epitome of what that " sheltered" white girl dislikes and probably envison all black ppl as: loud, ghetto, and ignant ( yup). Why must they feed imto the stero type? it erks me to no end. If its not the confrontational black girl it's the angry black girl. I love/d me some Tyra but she has to do better. Why must they always cast the loud. neck rolling, hands clapping black girl? Why? I just don't get it. I was happy to see that she didn't make it far because she did not need any more air time, but that doesn't take away from the uneasy disappointed feeling i got when seeing the air time she did receive.

Entry 3

what makes me a strong woman/ teen is living life through christ!

entry 2

What makes me a strong woman?

My experiences, trials, and tribulations makes me a strong woman. It is thru these falls in life that I've realized how strong I am. You never know how strong you are till you fall and get yourself back up. No matter how many times I fall, I won't fall for the same mistake or downfall twice. No matter how many times I cry, I know at the end of it all I will reflect and see how far I've come to see where I'm headed; that is my symbolism of STRENGTH.

Peace&love,
Keisha

Entry #1

A strong woman is strong enough to admit her mistakes & correct them w/o pointing the finger @ others or avoiding the issue.
She is strong enough to follow while continuing demonstrating her leadership skills.

She knows holding onto past negative experiences will only hinder her future.

One of her mottos is , you get back what you give. Therefore, charIty is not an option its an necessity.
Walking away doesn't mean she's lost.
Mistakes are necessary that is how one learns. she is never envious of what others have, b/c one never knows what others have done to attain said things.

And just when one assumes the level of another's strength, they come to learn even more when she does the unthinkable. She opts to continue her pregnancy after multiple tests have confirmed that her baby will be born with down syndrome.

Party like a rock star. Who me? Couldn't be.

At 31 years young I have come to realize that I can no longer "party like a rockstar". For my birthday this year I decided to have a small group of friends celebrate with me I went out to dinner with them and then went to dance at soirée (
I'll give my commentary of both places In another entry).
If someone would have told me that I would sleep my actual bday away b/c of my partying hard antics the day before I would have laughed in their face. Granted I have not " partied hard" in a year, but i thought I still had it. Boy was I wrong. I ordered 4 bottles of bubbly had on my wonderfully crafted dress, my bebe heels, fly make-up, and I was sure that the night was mine... it was mine but it kicked my butt the next day. I was literally exhausted.
I have come to the conclusion that I a) am not a " real drinker" and b) don't have it anymore to stay out to 4am. I am hanging my party shoes up and leaving that chapter of my life with my head hanging down.

Who shouldnt wear white after Labor day???

When is after Labor day actually? When can one wear white again? Who came up with this rule? Well I may get a ticket from the "fashion gods" because Labor day was Monday and I wore stark white jeans, with AX white shades. I have never understood this "fashion rule" I LOVE my winter whites. I think it compliments my chocolate complexion *bats lashes* (lol). I think i want to protest this rule... Wait I think I did today.
Moral of the story?
Wear what you want!

Little black...

Shoe... Just like the little black dress i think this is a MUST in all women wardrobes. There are many variations of the little black shoe, the classic black pump is a MUST HAVE. This shoe is so versatile, it can be worn on an interview, to dinner, to work, to an after work gathering. It has both a classy and fashionable appeal. The next Must have is the peep toe. These too have the appeal of many aspects. What is important about the little black shoe is the simplicity of it. No flowers, no rhinestones, not glitz, just a black shoe with a nice size heel. I personally own many pairs of black pumps and peep toe, different brands, different heel size, leather and patent leather.

These are 2 pair of my favorites. The first is My guess pumps. I purchased these a few years ago and i love how they feel on my feet. The heel is 4 1/2 and they make me feel sooooo sexy. The next pair are my Jessica Simpson peep toe which i also have in patent leather. These are all so sexy. i love them. so much so... I had to get it in leather and patent leather. the heel on these are 5 inches.
if i dont have a pair i suggest you go out and get a pair.

Freedom of religion or understanding the pain?

The building of a Mosque near the world trade center is such a touchy topic. It's hard to really pick a side. It's either you are for it being build supporting the freedom of religion or you are against it being build because you either first hand know the pain or sympathize with the pain of the family of those killed on 911.
Do you hold a whole religion accountable for what happened on 911 or do you continue to hurt those still in pain. As I said it is a touchy topic but I would like to hear your opinions.
Thanks!

Fro days...

So i have many wigs for my lazy days. as of late i have been having them. I decided to wear my fro for a week (initially it was just for a day but i loved it so...) the front was braided from a previous style and i just added the faux fro

Silly me

So because I am sick and tired of wearing flats and I THOUGHT my toe was better i attempted to wear a pair of "loose" fitting heels last night out to dinner with my boo. I threw a pair of flats in my purse for "precautionary measures". I got as far as from my place to the car and i felt the pain. I wanted to cry. Not from the pain of my toe but from the fact that I am still not ready to wear heels. I'm going through heel withdrawal and i don't know how much longer I can take it. *sigh this cant be life*

written yesterday posted today

I'm in a mood today. I thought as I got older females would be better but it
seems like they are worst. Nothing particular happened I just began to evaluate
things in my life. What foundations am I trying to build. Where am I going and
who will have my back in my attempts to achieve my goals.

I don't want to be "popular" that's never been my goal. Having too many
"friends" can be trouble. There does not need to be an extreme amount of people
in my life, I think it causes more confusion. I rather have a few really great
friends over a little big of great friends and a whole lot of... Just friends...

I don't want to be apart of the "mean girls crew" its never been my think to just talk down about some one even if that person i know for sure is discussing me in a negative light and clearly does not like me. I just cant take that much time out in my day to do such a thing.

These are the two most forceful groups I am seeing. weather its directly or via on online i.e facebook, twitter etc..

PGH interview

What is your current form of employment?
Jewelry Making

My reason for choosing you to interview is because you are a young/black buisness woman. Tell me your trade of choice?
Earrings

What started you on this path?
My love for accessories, and the passion to stand out in a crowd

Are there days you want to give up?
No, of course I get frustrated but once I am over my emotional ride I just focus even more

What keeps you going and doing what you do?
My children and my hunger for success

With children how do you find the time to work on your craft?

My children are pretty independent and they know when they see mommy crafting that I am working. I try to do most of it in the evenings and when they are asleep. During the day they are also gone so I have free time to work on things as well What is your biggest success?
I consider my biggest success to be my first sale, that was the icing on the cake it was God telling me its ok and I can do this What is your biggest regret?
No regrets here, if I have regrets, I was not serious about what I can and will do What would you like people to say/think about you?
I can't worry about what anyone thinks or what they have to say because everyone is not on the same page, but I hope I present myself well to others and the report is outstanding, but I can never expect any thoughts from other to go my way 100%

Do you consider your self different or a everyday kind of person ?
I am everyday inside, but my exterior I am unique for sure lol but in a fun way

There are a lot of people out here with the same hustle, what sets you apart from them?
My hunger, my passion and the LOVE I have for my own product

If you can choose any job in the world to have no matter the pay what would it be?
Fashion Stylist for everyday people such as myself who have the hunger for the unique exterior : )

What is it that you do that keep customers coming back?

I am very personal with my customers, its not just the dollar sign, I like to consult and make sure they are full aware of what they purchase from me. Presentation is key as well, its so easy to throw them in a zip lock bag but I prefer to make them smile when they receive their ear candy

Does your personality come out in the pieces you make?

For sure !! I am known for wearing obnoxious accessories from jewels, belts, bags and shoes so this is natural for me when I come up with a new piece and its hard to not keep them for myself lol

Where can someone contact you if they are interested in something of yours ?

Well I am on face book under distraction bybeautydoll and I can be reached via email at distractionbybeautydoll@gmail.com

*Disclaimer
I know some would be wondering why I interviewed a fellow accessory maker so I must say this. There is a mutual respect we have for one another. I mainly work with metal, crystals, leather and chains. And she with feathers applique etc. We both dibble and dabble in the others main function but we have nothing but respect for one another.

Seriously?

I think my patience are running thin. I was beyond annoyed today on my way home. My mp3 ran out of juice so i was stuck listening to this big ass, grown ass rusty man pop his gum. he got off one stop b4 m3 and we got on at the same stop. I wanted to rip out my hair, To make matters worst, when i got on the bus this girl started popping hers. like who pops their gum??????

Big chop/ bandu results

Stop living for others. Live for your future

Having your priorities together?
At what age do you think ppl need to stop and put the priorities in order? I think once u hit 30 it's a must. In your 20's you party, you work hard and you party harder. U spend money on unimportant things and u " live it up" your focus is your source of fun. I believe your 20'S is to do exactly that live it up. Once you are in your 30's your priorities should shift. Owning a home and/or a business should be the focus. Spending your last dime on the latest fashion is not the move. Trying to keep up with the joneses is so last decade.Prioritizing your life with material things first, bills second is irresponsible. Unfortunately we live in a society that teaches us if we have material things we are better, so many strive to get it. Not realizing thy those things do nothing for their future.

I hate when I compliment someone and the immediately tell me who made it. "no thank you ma'am I didn't ask you". It becomes annoying. Isn't it a putty that you have a $800 bag but nothing in it but air. You should not have yo struggle a week after u purchase a big bill item. There is nothing wrong with having the finer things in life but it is important to be able to afford them.

I am not a huge fan if RhiRhi but i love this...

I think she looks lovely in this D&G off one shoulder play suit/catsuit/jumper/romper. It goes well with her hair color and the toned down black shoes go just right with this look.
( I am so out of the loop b/c i didn't know the girls hair was red)

My Butter experience

On Friday July 16th I went to dine out at Butter. Located at 415 Lafayette street Butter was the cross btw a restaurant and a club. walking in was like you were walking through a tunnel. the design of the restaurant was pretty nice. they had booths ( which i love) as well as regular tables. the music was blasting and the atmosphere was "live"

Our service was OK. our waitress spent more time socializing with her co-workers than waiting on Us. when she did come over she seemed to be lost or confused. her service was not horrible but it could have/ should have been better. Some of the waitress' had on very unflattering attire.

The food was blah... there was no real taste. it was eatable but not extremely tasty. I have had worst but I expected better. i would like to give butter another chance and i blame the lack of... on it being restaurant week.

Pictures added are pictures of me that day. I didn't take any of the restaurant or the food because i actually forgot.lol
I give butter a 3 out of 5.
one point was for the music and decor of the place

My night out @ Mr.chows

On Thursday July 12th 2010 I Visited Mr.Chows which is located at 324 E.57th street. I was excited to go because i wanted to visit earlier in the year but never got around to going. As you step in you smell the aroma of fresh flowers. The atmosphere was very calm and elegant. as we were ushered to out table I looked around to take in that atmosphere it was great. While dining you listen to the latest music of almost all genres.

The service was great the waiter ( whose name was Cruz) and the head waiter were great, we weren't bothered too much but they were attentive and helpful. At the end of dinner while we were enjoying our wine and the last bit of desert Cruz came over and sparked up a conversation with us. He was very polite and began telling us that on a daily basis there are various stars that come through the restaurant, he said that most of them were nice and down to earth.

The food was GREAT. I enjoyed every bit of it. You were able to taste the Asian but it was not over powering. I had a chicken dish with rice and string beans. I DO NOT eat sting beans. They are nasty but the way they were seasoned that night made me rethink string beans. They were delicious.

Ive inserted pics of the ambiance, food and ME :-D

I give Mr.chows 4.5 stars out of 5.

Resturant week.

Restaurant week kicked off last week Monday June 12th 2010. Restaurant week is basically a week in which certain (not all restaurants participates, go to http://www.nycgo.com/restaurantweek/ to see which ones do) restaurants have a special menu Monday-Friday with only a few participating on Sunday. they offer lunch for as low as $24.00 and dinner as low as $35.00.If/when you are in New York up until the 25th try to take advantage of NYC's restaurant week.As for me i visited 2 restaurants last week the first was Mr. Chows, the next was Butter. I am looking forward to going to at least one more restaurant.

also PLEASE TIP YOUR waiter/waitress. Tips are not included!

Natural hair is unprofessional?

One day while heading home from a long day at work I stir up a conversation with this young lady. She was very pleasent and she was assisting me on how to clean a purse of mine. Anywho we get to talking and I make a comment on her natural hair. She thanks me and continues with the following "...even though my job says it is unprofessional". My mouth fell open. I was in shock. I began to wonder how natural hair is seen as unprofessional.

What made me write about this today was what I saw on my commute to work this morning. A women gets on the train with dress pants, a button down shirt, and RED hair. Not the natural red but the kool-aid red and it left me wondering if she was going to work. I wondered if at her job they saw her hair as unprofessional.

What kind of world do we live in that the way someone's hair grows naturally out of their scalp is seen as unprofessional? Are we (women of color) put in uncomfortable situations because of our choice of hairstyles. When I used to relax my hair ( over a year and 4 months ago) I never imagined my choice to go natural would be seen as a faux pas in some work enviornments. Is a womans choice to be natural punished because of what society deems as "normal" in the African American/black community? I was also left to wonder if the "type of natural" you are warrents different reaction of others.

We are not our hair. We are what we bring to the job. It sadens me that we are in a society in which the natural state of hair is not acceptable in certain settings, it also saddens me that I was blind to this. I had no idea people saw natural hair a unprofessional. One can wear a 20 inch weave with streaks but can not wear their hair in it's natural state. Interesting to say the least.

Back in the day when I was young...

I know u all remember this big portable cd players we use to rock like no bodies business. Today an older man on the train during my commute to work jogged my memory of them. Not having really seen them in a while it made me giggle a bit. Not at the older man ,who I assumed was at a stage in his life to not care about things such as mp3 players, but it was at the image of me stuffing a big cd player with cd's in my purse. No one could tell me anything, I knew i was hot s*it. Boy have the times changed. It's good to have a reminder of what there was even though it wasn't that long ago. Lol

The daily grind of the commute in NYC-transit musical chairs.

Tranist musical chairs
It has to be one of the funniest things I witness is the mornings. The
train stops, someone gets off and there is a hustle and at times a push
and a dive to get that seat. Ppl lose all sense of manners when a seat
become avalible.I feel the older(not senior citizen older)  asain
women are the worst. They will do whatever it takes for them to sit
down even if it is ONLY for one stop. When the lose the seat to someone who is just a step quicker than them they have the nerve to be upset. It's a jungle and on the subway @ rush hour it is the survival of the fittest.

LeBron mania...

Ok enough people. Let the man live. What does he really owe anyone?

As I watched the coverage last night I silently wished. LeBron would come to Miami. Mainly for my own selfish reasons. I've been a heat fans for years and I've watch Dwayne Wade bring his team so close to the finals to only be shut down. A man should never score 40+ points and his TEAM still lose the game. LeBron would be the perfect ingredients to this teams attempts to success.

When it became official that he was going to Miami I was excited, unfortunately it seemed like I was the only one I knew that felt this way. My excitement was overshadowed by the many facebook status messages that called this man everything but his name.
LeBron mania had finally reached a head and now this person that has been loved by many is hated by all... Well not all but his home town of Ohio and New York are very bitter. Why is my question...
Ok ok so I somewhat understand Cleveland's disappointment but how long should the man have stayed?

Lebron gave the Cavs 7 years of his life and they repay him by calling him selfish and burning his Jersey??? Way to show you're a true fan! And New York, good ole New York, as much as I love my city my city was NOT ready for Lebron. He did. Not have a team. Coming to New York would have done no good and lead to the same kind of dissappointing end. I feel NY is where ppl careers come to die. The letter from the cavs owner was so low. I will chalk it up to too much to drink and emotions.

I've always said the love for the game and the drive to win is gone and these young men just want the money. LeBron has shown that he wants to win and he is willing to give up money and the spotlight to achieve it!!! Go LeBron!!!

Nicki Minaj

Anther new addition "Star of the day" ( I am not going to do a different star everyday but i will do it as often as time allows)

Who is Nicki Minaj? She is a young lady in which i have very little interest in. I hear her name but i dont know much about her. ive seen pics of her and i think she is pretty... but that is on top of the pounds of make up. i wonder how she looks stripped down.

From what I have gathered Nicki Minaj whose real name is Onika Maraj was raised in Queens, New York. She had an abusive father which helped firestart her "strong woman" "female empowerment thing". She graduated from LaGuardia High School where she studied music and acting.

Starting from 2004 Nicki had appeared on many mixed tapes, background vocals and a collaborations. I found it Ironic that in an interview done with interview magazine she stated “I made a conscious decision to try to tone down the sexiness, I want people—especially young girls—to know that in life, nothing is going to be based on sex appeal. You’ve got to have something else to go with that." Whenever "I" see her and hear her sex is what I get, he look and her lyrics are sex based. In 2009 she was signed to Young Money Entertainment

From what i hear prior to her coming out she was a tomboy ( i can't find any pics to support that). It is said she sexed up her look and body ( rumors she has had butt implants are swirling). I dont know what is true but i will say this. her look IMO ( in my opinion) is reminiscent of lil Kim. One think i do know. HER BODY IS THE TRUTH.

Seriously?

This is something new im trying out call " fashion on the street" Hopefully i will be able to build this. I will flash shots of interesting, common, and unique trends or styles, some will be willing participants many may not be ( lol). I will post them and give my opinion. You may not agree and that's ok. Enjoy!

This is a horrible trend that keeps growing and growing. I don't even understand why guys wear jeans. Sadly i have seen jeans worn lower than this. The worst is the jeans are getting tighter and tighter.
The story is... This trend was started in jail. This was to entice counterparts to let them know they were available. Also they were not able to wear belts so their pants sagged. I don't know for sure which story is TRUE but all is believable. This is a trend that should DIE!!!

Dakota Fanning looking great as she grows up

She grew up in front of our eyes and i must say she is a beautiful young lady. She seems to always dress age appropriate and i hope she doesn't go down the same horrible trail of child stars... but so far so go... yay Dakota!

Doc Martens... coming back?

Ok so as of late i have seen many ppl wearing these. I don't understand why they are being brought back out again. not everything needs to be brought back out. Maybe i'm bias because I really do not wear flats or boots like this but seriously whyyyyyyyy

MY shoe of the week

Ive shown some of my FB friends these already but THESE are MY shoes of the week!

judge judy the queen of daytime? Its not Oprah any more!

Judge JudyWho's the queen of daytime television? It's not 'All My Children's' Susan Lucci or Oprah Winfrey or any of the ladies on 'The View.' Nope, the woman who rules daytime wears a long black robe and her name is Judy. That's right, 'Judge Judy,' who has been on the air for 15 years, is now the daytime diva.

In the recent May sweeps period, 'Judge Judy,' the syndicated courtroom reality show presided over by former jurist Judith Sheindlin, was the most-watched daytime show of all with nearly 6.4 million total viewers per episode. That's an increase of over 10 percent from a year ago and good enough to topple 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' from the top slot -- even in its final go-round!

'The Oprah Winfrey Show' averaged 6.2 million viewers in May -- down nine percent from last year. In distant third place with 3.8 million viewers was 'Dr. Phil,' which is produced by Winfrey's company, Harpo.

Oprah WinfreyAnd 'Judy' should face even less competition in the future, since 'Oprah' ends its run in September 2011. Winfrey will move over to OWN (the Oprah Winfrey Network), though whether she'll host a similar talk show is uncertain.

What is it about 'Judge Judy' that makes it such compelling viewing? Well, as someone who's recently gotten into the daily ritual of tuning in to her courtroom, here's the reasons why Judge Judy makes my day.

1. She's smart as a whip.
It's not surprising that Judy is smart. She's like a wise owl who has been around and knows it all. When you see people come into the courtroom thinking they're oh-so-clever and have their cases all figured out, she sees right through them and tells them what's what.

They invariably get their comeuppance from Judge Judy. She's smarter than any person who thinks they're going to outwit her. And she's a legal eagle. You can only imagine how great she was as an attorney.

2. She doesn't suffer fools gladly. In other words, Judge Judy is unwilling to tolerate stupid people. She calls them out on their foolishness, and there's nothing as refreshing as watching Judge Judy identify a dumb situation or ridiculous plaintiff and cut them down to size.

For instance, a recent plaintiff tried to claim hundreds of dollars in custom rims and tires for his car as a gift. It was a gift he gave himself! Judy blasted him and refused to let him get them back in the suit. Judy and Byrd, her trusty bailiff, often share a good laugh over some of the more ridiculous participants.

3. She's an antidote to bull.
If you watch enough daytime television, you're liable to hear a lot of filler and malarkey. The cable news shows, for instance, are loaded with hot air. I love the soap operas, but they can spend a week on one scene or storyline, going over the same points over and over again. If you turn on game shows, you'll hear plenty of loud squeals and over-hyped happiness. Well, click on 'Judge Judy' for clarity.

There's no hot air or spin or hype. She tells it like it is whether people want to hear it or not. Today, as an example, she gave it to a woman who admitted to texting her boyfriend while at dinner with a friend. Going off on a rant, Judy wondered how someone -- anyone -- could be so rude. She added that texting in theaters, while others are there to see a movie, was distracting and disturbing.

4. She's got charisma.
Yeah, I mean it. I love watching Judy in action. She's hilarious! Her facial expressions, her turns of phrases, her asides to Byrd. The show is entertaining as hell because of her charisma.

If you were writing a fictional character with attitude and style and personality, you would create a Judith Sheindlin. She's like the Jimmy Cagney of TV judges, and that's pure star power.

Why 'Judge Judy' Rules Daytime Television

I love me some JJ, so much so i record her because i am at work when she is on. she is funny and informative ( as far as knowing what to do and not to do ESPECIALLY in relationships). She is not bias and i love it. JJ RULES!!!

IMMMM BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Again! lol
ive been a bit busy but i am back. I hope every one is well.
I am in Texas at the moment but i just wanted to check in to let everyone know that I will be posting some things today. SO until then.... enjoy your day!
